Invasive Species in the Arctic Tundra
Researches have found many invasive species making their way into the Arctic Tundra, these species would include Crabs, barnacles and cope-pods. The only ones tolerant to the cold climate are the crustacean Species. The rest are having a tough time surviving, but as the ice melts more and more species will be able to survive. However the European Green Crab has become a major problem in the Arctic Tundra. The crab is known to eating native shellfish and plankton, and competing with native crabs. They are even introducing new types of parasites.
Exotic Species in the Arctic Tundra
One of the most exotic species in the Arctic Tundra is the Tundra Swans. This Specie migrates to Alaska each year to build nests and lay eggs. In the fall, the species migrates to the Northeast United States, along the Atlantic coast of North Carolina, and then to Maryland.
